Livingston County’s most-affluent community, Brighton boasts amazing freeway access, making it a commuter’s dream. The community also boasts award-winning schools, upscale dining and shopping, a wide variety of housing, and a thriving cultural center.
The heart of the community is the downtown Mill Pond area, around which sit homes, a church, restaurants, shops, a park and a world-class children’s play area erected by community volunteers. A thriving farmers market operates from May through October, offering a wide range of locally grown produce. The Mill Pond is also home to a number of sculptures, all part of the city’s Biennial project, which treats the town as an outdoor art gallery.
The Brighton Area Schools district ranks as one of the best in the state and nation on any number of scales. The Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, part of Brighton High School, brings in some of the best live performances each season, from musical acts to dance troupes to theatrical productions. Its Children’s Cultural Series is a huge hit, quickly selling out every year.
Brighton is a community that loves to celebrate: There are a number of exciting festivals in the community each year, including the Smokin’ Jazz & Barbecue Festival, the Americana Music Festival, Fine Art & Acoustic Music Festival, Holiday Glow, and Livingston County’s largest Fourth of July Parade.
